"...I did not see one flea or tick on my dogs the entire summer."
Sandy Leon, Ortonville, MI
Adult fleas cannot live without a blood meal from either animals or humans. In the USA they are generally most active during July, August and September. Fleas drop off eggs onto your floor, carpet, upholstery and pet resting areas. These eggs hatch out and re-infest pets and often enough attack humans generally at ankle level. In carpets, they hide in the lower parts of the carpet fibers and entwine themselves there and vacuuming may only get 20% of them. Carpets should be steam cleaned and or treated with flea treatments which are available through your veterinarian. Upholstery should be vacuumed every other day during infestations. Fleas can hide in cracks in the floor, in baseboards, in ventilators and under furniture. |

1. Keep your yard clear of weeds and tall grass, fallen tree limbs. 2. Spray all grass, shrubs and dirt and sand areas with the following formula of Mosquito Barrier: For each gallon of water, add 4 ounces of Mosquito Barrier. Use a Hudson-style, pump up sprayer with wand or other similar commercial equipment. Click here to see a picture of a Hudson-style sprayer. Stir product well and spray entire yard, front, back and side yard and all shrubs, under shrubs and in shady areas. 3. When spraying dirt and sand it is important to first water the dirt and sand with the garden house to bring larvae hiding there to the surface, wait one hour after watering and then spray with Mosquito Barrier mixture. 4. After the first spraying, repeat in 5 days and thereafter every 3-4 weeks during flea season. 5. Always do any spraying late in the afternoon as close to sundown as possible. |
